Race For Adoption is a project where the winnings of current racing Greyhounds directly benefit retired racing Greyhounds. This concept was inspired from an idea by Dennis McKeon, a lifelong racing professional and greyhound breed enthusiast. Dennis' idea was for a group of adoption supporters to buy a race dog, and all the dog's race winnings would be donated to selected adoption agencies to help fund their ongoing efforts in rehoming retired racers. To date, Race For Adoption has raised thousands of dollars for several adoption groups.

If you are considering adopting a Greyhound, but aren't ready to make the final leap, think about perhaps fostering first. By becoming a foster family with H.O.T. and fostering first, you become more knowledgeable about Greyhounds and are better able to make the decision if adoption is really right for your family. Through your fostering experience, you get the support and guidance that you need, while learning about the wonderful Greyhounds. Additionally, through fostering, your family becomes acquainted with each H.O.T. Hound that pass through your home, which better allows to your family and H.O.T. to assess which one would best fit in as a permanent member of your family.
