ACE

Red Brindle Male
Birthdate:  August 2005
Weight:  86#
SMALL CRITTER SAFE

HE CERTAINLY IS "THE ACES"!
Ace has arrived at H.O.T. in our third group of Greyhounds from the Lone Star Kennel at the Corpus Christi Greyhound Racetrack.
Ace is a gentle giant. He is a beautiful dark red with black brindling. His muzzle is black and he's got "sugar toes". Such a handsome young man.
Ace crates beautifully. He is learning about home life from the other Greyhounds in his foster home. He is a quiet guy who doesn't really get too excited about anything. But when Ace gets excited, we don't think he realizes he's as big as he is. He does tend to bounce around quite a bit and if a person is in the way, that person can tend to get bumped around!
But all in all, Ace is a gentle giant and we feel that Ace would make a wonderful companion in most any home situation! But realize, Ace is VERY strong. So, he does need a human who can control him while on a leash!

THIS ONE WANTS TO REST ON YOUR SHOULDER
Angel arrived at H.O.T. in our seventh and last group of Greyhounds from the Corpus Christi Greyhound Racetrack.
Angel definitely lives up to her name. With her long black face and loving eyes, Angel will just draw you in with her gentle, loving ways. Angel is in wonderful physical condition; her muscle tone is outstanding!
Angel crates perfectly and even likes to go in just for quiet times or a quick nap. At dinner time, Angel is a perfect lady.
Angel gets along with the other Greyhounds in her foster home. She loves being scratched behind her ears and has the best " eargasms" when her ears are rubbed. If Angel finds a ready hand doing nothing, she is quick to duck under and encourage a rub down and she will stand there as long as you are willing to massage her!
We have no doubt that Angel will be a wonderful, welcomed addition to most any household!

Augie is a very handsome fella who has a personality to match. He gets along greyt with the other Greyhounds in his foster home and is a real joy to have around.
When moved into a new home, Augie does need a bit of enticement to eat his dinner. A quarter can of wet dog food in his kibble bowl usually will do the trick.

BABY

WHAT A DARLING BABY!
Arriving from a Greyhound farm in La Marque, Baby has already stolen our hearts! With the white heart on her sweet face, how could one not fall in love with this very special gal! Unfortunately, positive identification cannot be made on Baby, and the owner of the farm was not able to help us in this regard. It is obvious that she was used as brood stock at one time. But we can assure you, the name "Baby" fits this little girl to a tee!
Baby is just as easy as they come. She crates beautifully. She eats everything and anything put in front of her. She gets along with the other Greyhounds in the household. When she first arrived, the resident kitties were a point of greyt interest to Baby. But the longer she is here, the better she gets around the kitties.
Just give Baby a nice soft place to rest her head. We can assure you, she will give you many days of love, joy and laughter!

BLONDY

Fawn Female
Birthdate:  April 1997

CAT SAFE

A POUND RESCUE!
Blondy was picked up by San Antonio Animal Control on Monday, 02/26/07. H.O.T. was called to assist, and Blondy came to H.O.T. on Thursday, 03/01/07. A found ad was run in the San Antonio Express-News, but no one claimed this special gal!
In surprisingly good shape, Blondy was treated like a princess during her stay at the pound. She was not put into the general population, but was kept in one of the offices and given a soft pillow to lay on. We really appreciate the efforts of the people at the SAAC for making Blondy's required stay a positive experience.
Blondy has been given a clean bill of health from the H.O.T. vet. Except for having some intestinal parasites, which have been treated, our vet said that Blondy was in exceptionally good shape for her age and for being a stray.
Blondy is a gorgeous light fawn with the dark ticking all over the body. Her tail is dark on top, light on the underside. And rather than having a light "heart" on her face, hers is surrounded by the dark ticking which gives her a really unique appearance. When Blondy walks, she kind of has the "goose step" of a soldier!
Blondy is just a doll to have around. She is very smart. She knows which crate is hers, and stands by it waiting to go in when it is dinnertime. Blondy does not need to be crated when her humans are not at home. Although she can be a bit growly when first meeting new dogs, Blondy quickly settled down into the schedule of her foster home.

BUBBLY BOBBY!
Bobby arrived at H.O.T. from John Dalton's Greyhound Farm. As a pup, Bobby wasn't individually registered. He suffered an injury as a pup to the Sartorius (whip) muscle in his back left leg. This injury doesn't cause him problems or pain, but does cause him to limp a bit after exercised too much.
As you can tell from Bobby's pictures, he is a very happy guy who loves to play. He is young and his foster home is his first experience away from the farm. Bobby is being a greyt boy in the house with no house training issues. Bobby does crates beautifully and he seems happy in his crate.
The first couple of days, Bobby didn't eat as long as we'd like. But his appetite picked up and he doesn't miss a meal now. Squeeky stuffies are favorites of Bobby's.
Bobby does tend to be a little omega when around the other Greyhounds. Although he is a follower, he doesn't particularly like to be the last to get any where. In his foster home, Bobby loves being in his crate with the door opened just watching the activities in the home.
We feel that in the right home, Bobby would make a wonderful and treasured member of the family.

Bugsy has arrived at H.O.T. in our first group of Greyhounds from the Lone Star Kennel at the Corpus Christi Greyhound Track. He was retired from the track due to a cracked hock. Although he does favor the hock at times, most of the time it is business as usual for this handsome young man!
As you can see from the second picture, Bugsy loves to do "house work". He has a bit of a mischievous streak and likes to rearrange things to suit his purposes. And those purposes are usually to make a big pile of "soft" for him to plop down in the mioddle of.
Bugsy crates beautifully. He loves rawhide retriever rolls and he counts squeeky stuffies amongst his favorite things. Bugsy is a very easy Greyhound to have around!

GREYHOUND WITH A SPANISH FLAIR!
Carmen has arrived from a Greyhound farm in La Marque, Texas. Having raced only 31 races in 2003 and 2004, Carmen was destined to be a broodie, but for some reason, never got the chance. So, she had been sitting on the farm waiting for an adoption group to help her find her way to a wonderful home!
We can picture Carmen as that beautiful brindle gal with flowing skirts kicking up her heels to flamenco music. Our Carmen's got the flashing eyes and frisky moves of a graceful flamenco dancer! Her personality's a bit "spicey" too!
One of the cutest things that Carmen does is when you call her to come to you, Carmen will crouch down and kinda crawl to you. Just when she's about gotten to where you are, she will stand up and trot off in the opposite direction with her head thrown back and a bit grin on her face. We just know she's getting us all trained just the way she wants us!
Carmen is wonderful in a crate. She does need a bit of enticement at dinnertime. So, a spoonful or two of canned food or yummy yogurt helps get things going for her. Since Carmen does fancy herself a diva, her space is precious to her and sometimes she's a bit grumpy when other Greys get into her personal space.
Carmen's got personality and style and we feel she would make a wonderful addition in most any home situation.

HAILEY'S GOT NOTHING ON HIM!
Comet initially came to H.O.T. from the Capote Kennel at the Corpus Christi Greyhound Track when it was closing down. We were told that Comet was retired from racing due to an injury. We have yet, however, been able to determine what the injury was as he has no limp or anything which would indicate injury.
Comet was adopted by a lovely family, but after being in the home for a while, Comet started acting afraid of the grandchildren. His adoptive mom felt that Comet's fright was due to him not being around the grandchildren all the time and because he was an only dog. She feels that Comet needs another confident Greyhound to reside with and to gain his confidence from.
The contrast of colors on this boy is very striking. Sparkling white with dark, luxurious red brindle, Comet is just gorgeous.
Comet is a gentle, sweet boy but he does have a rowdy side once he gets comfortable in his environment. Comet loves squeeky toys. His adoptive parents used to take Comet to their lake house. Comet loved to just wade right into the lake and splash around! Comet also enjoyed their camping excursions.
Comet crates beautifully and just loves being with his humans. He is gentle and loving, but due to his insecurities (which are not apparent upon first meeting), Comet would best be placed in a home with another Greyhound.

Cyanne is being fostered in Comfort, Texas.
Cyanne, whose name means "graceful" originally came to H.O.T. from the Peck's Greyhound Farm. We don't know how graceful she was at racing, but we'll guess not much since she never raced! But we can also guess why she didn't race; she's just so darn cute. She's rather be adorning someone's couch and being cute than run with the Greyhounds.
Cyanne is the littermate to Colleen.
Since August, 2007, she took a slight detour to a home (apartment) in New Braunfels, where although a bit shy, she did wonderfully. Cyanne returns to H.O.T. due to her dad taking a new job where his hours will be longer and he felt he wouldn't have enough time to spend with Cyanne.
Cyanne is a very beautiful girl. Dark brindling on a soft fawn background makes her a very striking package. Cyanne has a cute personality and just thinks everyone should be her friend.
Cyanne crates beautiful, eats like a horse, loves rawhide retriever rolls, and really enjoys playing with squeeky stuffies. Cyanne has also been known to take her stuffies outside to bury them.

Dart is being fostered in Victoria, Texas!
Dart, Bullet, and Comet all came from the Capote Kennel in our first group of Greyhounds from the Corpus Christi Greyhound Track. Their racing owner contacted H.O.T. to take these three littermates because of our past dealing with him. Participating in 59 races, Dart was destined for the Valley Greyhound Track, but his owner decided to graded him off.
These brothers are like three peas in a pod. Easy to be around, easy to handle, and easy to care for.
Dart is a very striking red brindle with sparkling white to accentuate the total picture. But his looks have got nothing on his personality. Gentle and loving are two words which just start to describe this wonderful boy!
Although Dart crates fine, we feel he really doesn't need to be. One look in his sparkling eyes gives you just a hint of what's to come with this gorgeous guy in your home. We feel that Dart would be an asset to any home situation. He is just destine to bring lots of love to some lucky family.

We think Defender would do well as an only Greyhound. If there are other dogs, more dominant females would probably be best.
Defender has an outstanding personality and does have the tendency to try to get his way in all situations. Because of this, a strong male presence in his adoption home would be needed.

DEREK

Red Male
Birthdate:  July 2004

SMALL ANIMAL TOLERANT

HANDSOME YOUNG MAN!
Derek is being fostered in Corpus Christi!
Found intact wearing a plastic track collar and a tick collar, we first called this gentle boy J.D. (John Doe) Dog. Since his ear tattoos, with the exception of his right ear, are unreadable, we have changed name his name to Derek. His foster mom thought this was a strong name for a strong young man.
Derek is a refugee from the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services. Found running the streets on October 24, 2007, and relinquished to H.O.T. on October 27th. What little hair Derek had was only down his back bone; it showed that Derek should be a gorgeous red boy. But instead, Derek was covered in a staph infection. Derek was also heartworm positive and infested with intestinal worms.
In the caring, capable hands of H.O.T., Derek has thrived, healed and became the beautiful boy we knew he was supposed to be.
Derek is being fostered in a home with other Greyhounds and a pug. He is doing greyt. While in a foster home in San Antonio, Derek was exposed to cats. Although tolerant of them, Derek did show the cats some attention, but he was correctable.
Derek is a wonderful young man who has come a long way to health and (finally) happiness. We feel that Derek will bring much love and laughter to the family lucky enough to adopt him!

A BIT CAMERA SHY!
Dodge is being fostered in Corpus Christi.
Dodge came from the River Kennel at the Corpus Christi Greyhound Track. Although this is the first time H.O.T. has received a dog from that kennel, we can see why they wanted to make sure Dodge was placed with an adoption group.
It has been a challenge to get pictures of Dodge. Everytime we brought the camera out, Dodge would duck his head or turn away. He is one of the most camera shy Greyhounds we've yet to meet.
Although Dodge is a quiet guy, he is not shy. Dodge is a gorgeous brindle boy. He has four white mits and white on the tip of his tail. Visually, Dodge has got it all going on!
But Dodge's beauty goes beyond the physical. His personality is gentle and loving although a bit on the shy side. He gets along with everyone and everything. Often Dodge can be found pouncing and playing with stuffies. But don't let him know you see him doing it or he quickly stops and laying down.
Dodge crates well. At dinnertime, when he first arrived at H.O.T., Dodge did need a bit of encouragement to eat. Putting a small amount of canned food in with his dampened kibble helped him along.
We feel that Dodge would be a wonderful companion in most any home situation. Children? No problem. Senior citizens? Gentle is his middle name.

Duke returns to H.O.T. after living with his wonderful adoptive family for about a month. His adoptive mom was involved in a serious automobile accident which caused her to have injuries which would not allow her to properly care for Duke. It was with tears in her eyes, that she returned Duke to H.O.T.
Duke originally came to H.O.T. from the Valley Greyhound Track in Harlingen. His sire is Gable Dodge, and he has the great temperment which most of Gable Dodge's pups tend to exhibit.
Duke is a wonderful gentleman with a loving, gentle personality. He is very even tempered and gets along with everyone. Duke also has perfect house manners.
Duke crates beautifully. He hasn't met a bowl of food he doesn't like. We feel that Duke would do well in a home where there are children which will love on him. Duke can get a bit excited with smaller children who tend to "squeal", like little ones tend to do. Although he isn't aggressive, Duke does tend to do the "sniff, sniff, nuzzle, nuzzle, love nip" thing with them. So, children over the age of six would probably be best.

Yes, every day will be a fiesta with your very own Fiesta in residence! This little gal is a party every day!
Don't be folled that this gal is "just a fawn". Fiesta is a gorgeous gal with markings unlike any others we've seen. Fiesta looks like a fiesta was held oon her body with splashes of "color" all over her. Additionally, her attitude is that every day should be party time!
Fiesta was adopted into a family with four children, three over the age of eight and one age two. Fiesta's family started seeing behaviors in Fiesta which they didn't feel comfortable with around the two year old. So, they felt that Fiesta should come back to H.O.T. and find a family where if there were children, they were a little older.
Fiesta crates beautifully and she's never met a bowl of food she didn't like! Stuffies don't stand a chance with this party gal. She can destuff a stuffie faster than you can break open a pinata!

Frankie is just a happy-go-lucky fellow. Nothing upsets this boy; he's just happy all the time and very anxious to please. We feel he would do well in obedience training if his adoptive parents are so inclined.
Frankie is a gorgeous boy but he's got the baldest butt we've ever seen! His background color is a soft red fawn with beautiful blue brindling over his entire body. His nose and pad leather is blue.
Frankie crates beautifully. He loves to eat. Stuffie toys and retriever rolls rank high on his list of "must haves".
. We feel that Frankie would make a wonderful addition in most any home situation.

FUZZY WUZZY WAS A . . . GREYHOUND?
Fuzzy arrived at H.O.T. in our seventh and last group of Greyhounds from the Corpus Christi Greyhound Racetrack.
Fuzzy is a small, stocky boy who we mistake for a female too often just because of his size and his outer beauty.
Fuzzy loves tossing and chasing his stuffy toys. He gets along with the other Greyhounds in his foster home. Dinner time is a particular favorite of Fuzzy but when others approach him when he's eating, Fuzzy will back away to allow the interloper easy access.
Fuzzy crates beautifully and will often go into his crate just to nap.
Fuzzy is a well behaved young man who will make a wonderful, loving addition to some lucky family's home.
