A LITTLE SHY GAL!
Ally has arrived at H.O.T. from the Peck's Greyhound Farm.
Due to Ally's very shy personality, her status is on hold until further notice.

JUST A SWEETIE!
Anita returns to H.O.T. after being in an adoptive home for four years.
Don't let the term "senior" fool you! Anita is a feisty, seven year old who would do well with an active family. She enjoys walks and does excellent on the leash, maintaining a nice pace and focus, either on concrete or on the trail. She may even be a good jogging companion if given the opportunity to build up endurance.
Anita gets along well with other dogs, big and small. She has daushaunds in her former adoptive home.
Her foster family belongs to a local dog walking group and Anita accompanied them on a three to four mile hike with multiple new people and their dogs in one of the local parks. Anita had a wonderful time, charming everyone she met!
Anita has not offered to get on furniture. (The picture of her on the couch was her first stay with H.O.T. about four years ago.) Anita is content to lay on the floor or a nice comfy dog bed. She is a lady in the house not having any accidents or incidences of incorrect chewing on things that do not belong to her.
Anita is affectionate, but not overly so, remaining a bit aloof at times. She is enthusiastic in all things including food. Her foster family thinks she is top of the line and would do well in almost any home situation but especially well with a walker or jogger in the house who wants a companion.

PERSONALITY PLUS!
Coming from the Tucson Greyhound Track, Ashley last raced 07/12/08. The track tells us that Ashley is being retired from racing due to age. Ashley is a real "attention hog" who is very friendly and happy. Ashley is also crazy about people!

A REAL CUTIE!
Baby has arrived at H.O.T. from Gulf Greyhound Park.
Although a bit on the shy side, Baby is just a really cute Greyhound who gives a cute little smile when you talk to her.
Baby is a gorgeous gal. Her dark brindling is accented beautifully by her light fawn coat color. Baby has a small white button on her chest.
Baby crates greyt, but will tend to "sing" a bit when first put in although she does settle down quietly after a short time. Dinnertime is a favorite time of Baby's and she never turns down a meal!
Baby will probably need to be given some acclimation time when she first arrives at her adoptive home. Quieter children would be a plus as would another dog so as to give Baby someone to learn the ropes from.
All in all, Baby is a sweet little gal who will blossom in the right adoptive home.

Blondy foster family have agreed to allow Blondy to become a permanent foster in their home!

LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL HOME!
Brewster arrived at H.O.T. in our seventh and last group of Greyhounds from the Corpus Christi Greyhound Racetrack.
Brewster is a Greyhound with an outstanding temperment and an outstanding look. He is the littermate of Dreda who lives with her mom in Mexico. Although their personalities are similar, that's where the likeness stops.
Brewster is a gentle, laid-back Greyhound who loves everyone he meets. He is a big boy who just wants to be loved and petted on. He gets along with other large dogs. Brewster would probably do best in a home without children or older children.

GREYT GUY!
Broc comes to H.O.T. from the Peck's Greyhound Farm. They tell us that Broc never made it to the track because he just didn't have the heart for it. Broc is the littermate to Buster.
Broc is an absolutely handsome guy with his bright red coat with the dark accents on his muzzle, ears and tail.
Broc's initial foster mom thinks it's a good thing that Broc is gorgeous because sometimes there doesn't seem to be anything between his floppy ears! In other words, Broc isn't the brightest bulb in the box! Example:  Broc climbs up the stairs but when he gets to the top one, he stands there looking confused like he can't remember how to get his butt up on the deck! Sometimes, he even goes back down and tries again! Broc is a very funny guy to watch.
But what Broc may lack in the brains department, he certainly makes up with his loving, easy going personality. Broc crates beautifully and hasn't met a bowl of food he doesn't like.
Broc's current foster dad says one word describes this boy, awesome!
We feel that Broc would make a wonderful addition to most any home situation.

PERFECT GENTLEMAN!
These wonderful boy finds himself in need of a forever home once again!
His first dad moved to Japan and couldn't take Carlton with him. His second dad is moving to Los Angeles for a new job and felt it best for Carlton to remain in San Antonio because his schedule in LA is unknown at this time. Both of Carlton's owners loved him very much and did what was best for Carlton. We thank them for putting Carlton's welfare above all else!
In his two previous homes, Carlton lived in apartments with his dads. He was not crated nor did he need a muzzle while his dads were at work.
Carlton is a perfect gentleman indoors. He is quiet and lazy. Carlton has enough confidence to not need to be with his human all the time. He does, however, love to find the softest spot in the house and claim it as his own!
Carlton loves squeeky toys, rawhide retriever rolls, and dinner time. He loves to play fetch IF the human is the fetcher! Carlton loves car rides, long walks, and just being a wonderful companion!

SWEET-SWEET-SWEET!
Conor was pulled from the Harlingen shelter by a H.O.T. volunteer.
The following is Conor's "personal ad":  "Single, well-mannered male, white with matching brindle eye patches and ticking, wishes to meet a calm, quiet, and low-activity family.
Objective:  A long-term, very close relationship. I offer unconditional love, companionship that has been proven to lower a human's blood pressure, and faithful devotion.
I have proven myself to be perfect with a disabled person in my temporary, foster home, as well as with others of my own kind and one, very strange smaller canine that I have heard my foster humans refer to as being a "pug". I even get along well with kitties!
I am seeking a family that wishes their Greyhound to be with them at all times. A retired or work-at-home human would be perfect for me but is not a necessity. My foster mom says that I'm like some human males and don't often let my feelings show. I confess, that's true. I don't wag my tail that much or jump up and down like some of my peers do when they are excited, but I make up for that by gently placing my muzzle on my human's arm or leg while they are watching TV, looking at them with my beautiful brown eyes, and waiting quietly for scritches and ear rubs.
When I need to be with my human, however, I certainly let them know by softly whining to ask to be let into the room where they are. I will even lay on the bathmat and wait for my human while he or she is in the tub or shower. I just want to be where my human is!
I pride myself on being extremely affectionate and low-maintenance.
Expected in return:  A forever home, filled with love, where my many stellar qualities are valued and appreciated!"

HANDSOME HUNK!
Cort has arrived from the Gulf Greyhound Park!
WOW!!! What a fun guy and he's handsome as the dickens, full of energy and still exhibiting some "puppy behaviors"!
Cort has a stellar personality and he thinks the world is his oyster!
Cort is rather keen on smaller animals and this can tend to make Cort a bit hard to control on leash when there are smaller animals around. But at his foster where there are only Greyhounds to keep him company, Cort is a gentle giant getting along with everyone.
Cort is perfect in his crate and really LOVES rawhide retriever rolls. Dinner time is a favorite of Cort's and also loves lots of treats from his humans.
Cort is always ready to take a walk and is starting to walk without getting too excited about the great outdoors. He is curious about many things including the squirrels in the backyard.
We feel Cort would be a greyt addition to most any home situation and also as a only Greyhounds.
Larger children rather than small children or babies would probably be best with Cort due to exuberance for life!

CUTIE PATOOTIE!
Delia has arrived at H.O.T. from the Peck's Greyhound Farm.
You will love this little girl! Delia is a beautiful brindle with big brown, soulful eyes. She has quirky little ears - one bends forward and the other backward!
Delia is funny, playful (loves to carry a stuffie around in her mouth), and nosy (checks out everything that is going on). She will follow you everywhere, and sometimes, she is so quiet you don't even realize she is right behind you!
Delia has never met a meal she didn't like and is always happy to help out in the kitchen. She does like to counter surf but with correction she walks away and finds something else to get into. (Oops, we mean explore!)
Delia has quite a singing voice and likes to perform if you don't let her out of her crate as fast as she thinks you should. But once again, with a firm "no", she brings her aria to a quick conclusion!
Delia walks beautifully on a leash and loves to meet people whereever she goes.
Delia would probably do best in a home with children age eight and above and would love to have another dog to play with.

HANDSOME YOUNG MAN!
Found intact wearing a plastic track collar and a tick collar, we first called this gentle boy J.D. (John Doe) Dog. Since his ear tattoos, with the exception of his right ear, are unreadable, we have changed name his name to Derek. His foster mom thought this was a strong name for a strong young man.
Derek is a refugee from the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services. Found running the streets on October 24, 2007, and relinquished to H.O.T. on October 27th. What little hair Derek had was only down his back bone; it showed that Derek should be a gorgeous red boy. But instead, Derek was covered in a staph infection. Derek was also heartworm positive and infested with intestinal worms.
In the caring, capable hands of H.O.T., Derek has thrived, healed and became the beautiful boy we knew he was supposed to be.
Derek had been fostered in a home with other Greyhounds and a pug and he did greyt. While in a foster home in San Antonio, Derek is being exposed to cats. Although tolerant of them, Derek does show the cats some attention, but he was correctable.
Derek is a wonderful young man who has come a long way to health and (finally) happiness. We feel that Derek will bring much love and laughter to the family lucky enough to adopt him!

FLASHY DUDE!
Dude has arrived at H.O.T. from the Gulf Greyhound Park. Dude was retired due to a broken right hock which is all healed and not causing him any problems.
What a sweet guy. Dude is absolutely perfect in his crate, eats like a horse, and greets each day with vim and vigor! He loves everyone and everyone can't help but love him!
We feel that Dude would be a wonderful addition to most any home situation. Due to his hock injury, probably a home where all the children are steady on their feet as to not accidentally step on Dude would be best.
