GENTLE GENTLEMAN!
Max comes to H.O.T. as an owner surrender who adopted him directly from the Corpus Christi Greyhound Racetrack at the age of three. No paperwork was provided and his tattoos are faded and difficult to read. So, positive identification is not possible at this time. His birthdate tattoos are an educated guess.
Max is a handsome elderly gentleman who has been in a bit of a funk since coming to H.O.T. His foster parents are giving him lots of positive reinforcement and we expect him to turn-around in a bit.
In his previous home, he lived with another Greyhound, cats and small children. In his foster home, he is exposed to medium-size dogs and is doing greyt.
Max crates well but really doesn't need to be. Max did come to H.O.T. a little on the thin side, but his foster parents are working on putting a bit of weight on him.
Given time to acclimate, we feel that Max will be a greyt addition in most any home situation!

RECENT ACS RESCUE!
Monkey came to H.O.T. as a stray from San Antonio ACS on November 4, 2009. Thankfully, Monkey was heartworm negative. But with a racing weight of 82# and a current weight of 67#, the H.O.T. vet felt Monkey should gain some much needed weight prior to doing his pre-adoption vetting.
02/02/010:  Well, Monkey is up to weight and has been fully vetted. He has totally settled into being a relaxed Greyhound as you can see from his picture. His foster mom absolutely loves this boy! She says Monkey is a snuggle bug who is calm, sweet and laid-back. He does love stuffies, but he is very gentle when playing with them.
Monkey gets along with the other Greyhounds in his foster home. He is also doing well with the medium-size dog too!
Monkey crates well, eats like a champ, and is just an all-round gentleman.
We feel that Monkey will do exceptional in the right adoptive home.

A REAL LOVEBUG!
Pop, along with Ruby, has been adopted and is living with his new family in N.W. San Antonio!

MR. PERSONALITY!
Popeye came to H.O.T. from a Greyhound farm in Adkins, Texas.
Note Popeye's age, he is a puppy - due to turn one year on the 30th of November, and a definite puppy he is. Popeye was never race trained due to being blinded in his left eye at an early age. From what we understand, one of his littermates gave him a bite in the eye during play which resulted in his blindness. But know, Popeye has no problems and he has totally adjusted to only seeing out of one eye.
Now, don't be fooled. Although Popeye is a puppy, he is a very BIG puppy and he hasn't stopped growing yet. He is a total playhound and looks so comical doing his "Stevie Wonder" head thing with his tongue hanging out to the side.
Popeye is a gorgeous young man who hasn't quite grown into his feet and legs yet. His brindle is dark with a champagne base color on his coat. He is doing well with his house-training and crates greyt. When at Show 'n Tails, Popeye loves getting attention and never fails to go up and greet everyone who comes by!

H.O.T.'s PUPPIES!
At only 4.5 months of age, these two boys are almost as big as some of the adult Greyhounds in their foster home! Billy, Eric, and their adopted brother, Sebastian, came from the Gable Greyhound Farm. This was a misbreeding, but lineage from their mom is able to be seen by clicking above. We can certainly tell they are Gable Greys not only by their size but by Eric's distinct likeness to his grandpa, Gable Dodge!
Greyhound puppies are called "land sharks". If it fits in their mouths, they are going to chew it. These guys are total play machines. They do, however, settle down quickly once playtime is over.
Billy and Eric are both crate trained. They are learning house training very quickly. We are putting them on a two-time a day feeding.
Billy and Eric adapted well to wearing a collar and have been on lead to take to Show 'n Tails.
Although they haven't been vet checked as yet, they will have their pre-adoption done at six months of age and we anticipate that they will settle down quite a bit once this has been completed.

FITS HER NAME!
Rina has arrived at H.O.T. from the Gable Greyhound Farm. Much like her racing name, "RingofFire", Rina has the personality of a red head as well as the color! She's fiesty, playful and wants what she wants when she wants it!
Rina is a lovely gal with an outstanding personality. She crates beautifully, eats like a horse, and plays with stuffies with gay abandon!
Due to Rina's playful nature, a home with children would be a major plus in this gal's column. She is a Greyhound who just wants to please and takes gentle correction to heart!

We didn't get a chance to put Ruby on the web site because she got adopted so quickly!
Ruby and Pop have been adopted and they are living with their new family in N.W. San Antonio!
