STERLING
Sponsored by Lisa A. Franklin in memory of James B. Franklin
White and Red Brindle Male
Birthdate: October 2001
Weight: 72#
CAT AND SMALL DOG TOLERANT
THIS ONE IS "STERLING"!
Sterling is one gorgeous Greyhound. His white is sparkling and his red brindle patches are bright and shiny. His eyes have a sparkle
in them which just hints of his mischievous temperment. Sterling is at the top of his game!
Sterling has a condition with his toenails called Lupoid Onychodystrophy. This is a lupus-like syndrome that involves multiple nails
on his paws. This condition can cause split nails, brittle nails or sloughing nails. (Now, tell us that some human's don't have those
same problems with their nails!) This syndrome can be asymptomatic and lie dormant for the life of the dog. Sterling has no symptoms
of this condition presently. One Vitamin E geltab daily helps keep the syndrome in check. Sterling also has some corns on the bottom
of one of his paws, but these cause him no concerns. So, other than these easily-handled conditions, Sterling was given a clean bill
of health by our vet.
Sterling is doing greyt in his foster home. He is doing wonderfully with his crated although he has been
known to "sing" a bit while in his crate. Sometimes, he also gets a bit anxious
in his crate which results in some panting.
Sterling gets along with the other Greyhounds in his foster home. Although Sterling does fancy himself
an alpha male, he backs down quickly when corrected by his human. This behavior doesn't manifest itself
immediately upon arriving in a new home, but after he gets accustomed to the home environment.
Children over the age of 10 would probably be best for Sterling. Also, a house with another medium to large size dog would also be a
necessity. A stay-at-home parent would also be a major plus for Sterling!

SWINGER
Brindle Male
Birthdate: October 2007
Weight: 75#
CAT SAFE
PLAYFUL, FUN GUY!
Swinger is being fostered in Corpus Christi!
Swinger has arrived at H.O.T. from Peck's Greyhound Farm. Swinger and King are
littermates.
Swinger is just a real lovebug. Whereever you are, you are to be sure to find Swinger not to far away from you!
Swinger LOVES playing with stuffies. As a matter of fact, we think Swinger would play with most anything he can get
his mouth around!
Swinger crates beautifully. Dinnertime is one of his favorite times of the day. Treats, did you say "treats",
mom? Well, this boy can smell a treat at 50 yards!
Swinger can still act quite a bit like a puppy. But he is a gorgeous, young fella who will bring lots of joy to his
forever home. Although Swinger is a little taller than the average Greyhound, we feel he would do well with children
as he is very gentle.

TORI
White and Brindle Female
Birthdate: November 2004
Weight: 62#
NOT SMALL CRITTER SAFE
PRETTY LITTLE THING!
Tori is being fostered in Corpus Christi.
Tori arrived at H.O.T. in our second group of Greyhounds from the Lone Star Kennel at the Corpus Christi Greyhound Race Track.
This gal's got it all sewn up: beautiful looks, wonderful personality, and greyt behavior!
Her white is sparkling like freshly-fallen snow and her brindle is clear and concise. She makes quite a flashy picture as she races
around the back yard.
Tori is a fun gal to have around. She loves to chase stuffies and balls. We feel she would do greyt in a family with children.
Tori crates beautifully, although she does need a little encouragement to go in initially.
Tori would do best in a home where there is another Greyhound. Although she's never had any adjustment issues in any of her foster
homes, she did have some in the home she was placed in for two weeks. If you currently have a Greyhound and are looking for that
special second Greyhound who is a real lovebug, Tori may be just the one for you!

|
VIKING
Black Male
Birthdate: February 2007
Weight: 73#
NOT SMALL CRITTER SAFE
BLACK AS NIGHT!
Viking has arrived at H.O.T. from the Gulf Greyhound Park!
Viking is very loveable and wants to be close to his human friends. He is a good eater and is starting to gain
some needed weight.
Viking is quiet and laid back. Viking does have an issue with being crated, but does well in a gated room while
his foster family is away from the house.
During walks, Viking is very interested in small critters. So, his walker would need to keep a good hold of his
leash and exercise some control to keep Viking in order.
Viking loves children and would probably do best with children over the age of six. He would be best placed in a
home where there is another medium to large dog to keep him company.

We think Viking's got the best ears! Don't you agree?

|
WENDY
Red Female
Birthdate: Unknown
Weight: 57#
CAT TOLERANT
MEDIUM TO LARGE DOG SAFE
A WOMAN OF MYSTERY!
Wendy is being fostered in Corpus Christi!
Is this petite, sweet, well-mannered girl part Greyhound, part Rhodesian Ridgeback, part ??? Who knows, since Wendy has been keeping
her secrets to herself. But what is known is that she was much loved and well cared for since she showed up at her human's door
several years ago as a stray. Sadly, Wendy's loving mom had to ask H.O.T. to rehome Wendy when she could no longer provide the walks
Wendy enjoyed and needed due to living in an apartment.
This little princess comes with quite the dowry: a pretty winter coat with her name in script, a fluffy bed (which she
loves), and special, wholesome treats. Although not a pure-blood Greyhound, Wendy would be a wonderful companion to anyone who needs a gentle,
happy, loving girl for companionship. While her lineage is not known, she does exhibit the Greyhound's expressive ears, calm nature,
beautiful brown eyes, and loving attitude. Will your's be Wendy's forever home? She certainly hopes so.
Wendy would do well in an "only dog" home.

SENIOR GREYHOUND
There is no Greyhound-Data.com info for Widdle Bit.
|
WIDDLE BIT
Black Female
Birthdate: October 2001
Weight: 52#
SMALL CRITTER SAFE
JUST A LITTLE BIT!
Widdle Bit came to H.O.T. after we received a call from a gal in Von Army who found her. Unable to keep Widdle Bit
because of her home situation, but wanting to make sure that Widdle Bit would be well cared for, the gal turned her
off to H.O.T. for much needed care.
After being checked over throughly by the H.O.T. vet, Widdle Bit was found to be grossly underweight, full of
intestinal worms, and heartworm positive. We are working hard to get Widdle Bit up to weight so we can begin her
heartworm treatment.
Both of Widdle Bit's ears are tattooed with 101B. So, we are listing her birthdate accordingly. We do not know where
Widdle Bit came from, but we know that Widdle Bit will be loved and cherished by H.O.T. now!
Update 06/25/09: Widdle Bit has gained enough weight that we were able to take her to begin her heartworm treatment.
Her bloodwork shows the beginning of kidney problems. So, they will be using a gentler, slower-acting heartworm
treatment on Widdle Bit. Please keep Widdle Bit in your prayers.
Pictures and updated info will be posted soon.
