Update 01/27/04: It's amazing to me the amount of friends
that Old Fella has made all over the world. The e-mails continue to come in almost daily asking about him and
wanting new pictures to be posted. Happily, there is not much new to report as Old Fella is kinda holding his own
at this point. He just keeps on, keeping on! Old Fella has filled out quite nicely. There is nary a rib showing
at this juncture; his coat is soft and smooth. This is quite a difference from five months ago when we first picked
him up.
Old Fella is still his cantankerous self, but being he will
be fourteen years old on February 1st, we feel he is entitled. Scott continues to hand feed Old Fella when he woofs
and demands it, which is nearly EVERY day! Old Fella received a wonderfully, warm sweater from Susan of
A Blanket of Hope (THANKS SUSAN!), so with the sweater and his other
"clothing items", he is never cold nor at a loss for making a fashion statement. With his wardrobe, Old
Fella could make Carson's Kressley jealous! Old Fella's official "gotcha day" was posted as October 7th
and his adoptive family has been listed as "The Greyhound Community"! Each of us who care so much for
this special guy, together we will celebrate Old Fella's first "Gotcha Day" later this year! Old Fella
sends many "woofs" your way - and our group sends best wishes and many thanks to everyone for
their continued caring of Old Fella.
Update 02/16/04: Old Fella celebrated his fourteenth
birthday quietly on February 1st. Although, as you can see, it did quite tucker the old guy out!
Old Fella went by and visited with the vet for a quick
checkup and to let them see how gorgeous he looked. Needless to say, he was the hit of the office! Old Fella
has gained a little over two pounds - now weighing in now at 61.4#. Considering that everything
that passes his lips and toothless mouth is handfed to him by Scott, guess Scott must be doing something right!
Old Fella got the opportunity to wear his "Blanket of Hope" Sweater this past week-end, as San Antonio
had a bit of sleet and a dusting of snow. Old Fella was toasty and warm, continuing to get the choice spot in
front of the fireplace. With the cooler weather, Old Fella is feeling perky and frisky, and it is fun to watch
him "running" with the rest of the Greys. He does keep the youngsters in line at our home with a
toothless "snap" and quick "woof" to give him space! Keep those prayers and good thoughts
coming for the old guy. It is through the help of each of you that he is thriving. God willing, we will all
see him celebrate his fifteenth birthday in 2005!
