INTRODUCING H.O.T.'S SPRY SENIORS!

Love

Sedona, age 9, a loving companion of the King Family

A Greyhound is considered a "senior" when it reaches seven years of age or older. Most people who have worked with Greyhounds have a soft spot for these most special of all Greyhounds. Although in their twilight years, Senior Greyhounds make wonderful companions. Greyhounds are called "45 M.P.H. Couch Potatoes", but this is particularly appropriate where the senior Greyhounds is concerned. Most senior Greyhounds seems to have endless tolerance and patience where children are concerned. And, the quiet dignity and noble bearing of the senior Greyhound lends itself to being the perfect companion for the elderly in the community.

A note from a family who is the "forever" home to several senior Greyhounds. "All Greyhounds are special. However, it has been our experience that more than any other, a senior Greyhound appreciates the opportunity to live out the remainder of their life, on a couch enjoying the comfort and love of a "forever" home."

Usually, these seniors start out their retirement much the same way as all other retired racers do. They are young when retired and they are turned over to an adoption group, they are shown at an adoption venue, a family falls in love with them and makes the decision to provide a lifetime of love and caring for their newly adopted Greyhound.

Then things change. The Greyhound, now in its golden years, is returned to the adoption group. Or perhaps the Greyhound was used as a brood matron or stud dog and, after several years of "making puppies", the Greyhound is no longer able to do its job. Whatever the reason a Greyhound is available for adoption at his or her advanced age, and these seniors make EXCELLENT companions and deserve the chance to be loved.

Please consider adopting a Senior Greyhound. We know you will NEVER regret your decision, because the love you receive from them just seems to much more special.
